Flanged Joint Pipe / Flanged Pipe

Flanged Joint Pipe / Flanged Pipe

Flanged pipe (Flanged Joint Pipe) is a piping system where flanges are installed at the pipe ends, allowing easy connection with other pipes, fittings, or equipment. These flanges are flat metal components with bolt holes that enable secure and leak-proof assembly using bolts and gaskets.

Connection Method

Flanged pipes are connected using bolts and gaskets, creating a strong and reliable joint suitable for high-pressure applications. The bolted connection also allows easy disassembly when maintenance is required.

Types of Flanges Used

Flanged pipe systems can include several flange types depending on application requirements:
  • Weld Neck Flange
  • Slip-On Flange
  • Socket Weld Flange
  • Flat / Blind Flange
These flanges are typically welded onto the pipe ends before system assembly.

Materials

Flanged pipes are manufactured using different materials based on service conditions:
  • Carbon Steel
  • Alloy Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Ductile Iron

Applications

Flanged pipes are widely used in industrial systems such as oil and gas, water treatment, chemical processing, and HVAC systems due to their easy installation and maintenance.

Installation Environment

Flanged pipes are mainly used in above-ground installations. Their rigid connections make them less suitable for underground systems where soil movement or shifting loads may occur.

Maintenance Advantage

One of the main benefits of flanged piping systems is easy maintenance. Individual sections can be removed or replaced without cutting the pipe, reducing downtime and repair effort.

Summary

Flanged pipes provide a reliable, flexible, and efficient solution for connecting piping systems across various industrial applications, combining strength with ease of maintenance.

Material Types:

Carbon Steel Flanged Joint Pipe

Flange materials include ASTM A105N, ASTM A350 LF2/LF3, and ASTM A694 F42, F46, F52, F60 to F70. Pipe materials include ASTM A53, A106, A333, and API 5L.

Alloy Steel Flanged Pipe

Flange materials include ASTM A182 F5, F9, F11, F22, F91. Pipe materials include ASTM A335 P5, P9, P11, P22, P91.

Stainless Steel Flanged Pipe

Flange materials include 304, 304L, 316, 316L. Pipe materials include ASTM A312 TP304/304L and TP316/316L.

Flanged Joint Pipe – Installation Environment

Flanged steel pipes are mainly used for above-ground installation. They are not recommended for underground applications due to rigid joints that cannot absorb ground movement or uneven settlement, which may lead to deformation or failure of the pipeline system.

Applications

  • Industrial plants
  • Water transportation systems
  • Sewage disposal plants
  • Fire protection pipelines
  • Shipbuilding systems
  • Pumping stations
  • Wastewater treatment plants

Flanged Fittings

Flanged fittings are pipe components with flanged ends used in flanged joint systems. They are typically produced by butt-welding a flange to fittings to create a flanged connection.
  • Flanged Pipe Bend
  • Flanged Tee
  • Flanged Reducer
  • Flanged Elbow
